DRUG ADDICTION..

Drug Addiction refers to the condition of being addicted to a particular drug.  These are generally illegal drugs that affect the behaviour of a person. These addicted people are on the way to the steady and sure death. Millions of youths, the future citizens of India, fall victims to the habit of taking drugs.

When a drug is taken for the first time, it stimulates the pleasure centers of the brain. It is for sake of pleasure that most users first get accustomed to it. They take drugs to forget pain, sorrow, insult,and to escape from reality.

CAUSES..

It causes to destroy the youths of our country and to make our nation physically, intellectually and

morally weak and invalid forever. Various types of drugs come to the market through the smugglers and dishonest traders and peddlers. At first the students and youths take it out of curiosity or to fly to the dream-land of intoxication.

Drugs are taken in various forms. Some are taken through injection, some are smoked and some are chewed and swallowed. Drugs are sold in deserted houses, lonely places, hotels, parks, and street corners.

EFFECT..

The habit of Drug Addiction gradually takes over them and they can never shake-off this habit.
The effect of these dangerous drugs is very fatal and horrible.
It spoils the stomachs, effects the nerves and disturbs the chemical balance of the body of the addicts they feel weak and shaky.

It has negative effect on the mental and physical health of the individual. The drug addict is not looked upon with respect in the society.

1. One who gets addicted to it cannot LIVE without it.
2. He gets badly upset if he does not get his dose and do anything to have the kicking dose.
3. The drugs additc finds it tough to behave normally in social environment.
4. A person who abuses druges loses his confidense and self-esteem.

PREVENTION..

A survey among the University students shows that many students are addicted to this drug or that drug. Thus we find that situation comes to a critical position and the preventive measures should not be delayed any more.
So, a general awareness should be awakening in the government, the guardians and the youths to fight off the evils together.

There are certain preventive and remedial measures for dealing with the problem of drug abuse.

• The Government must use all the media to propagate against the habit of drug-taking.
• Voluntary organizations should pay more attention to instruct addicts how to give up the vice to bring them to the main stream of public life without shame or sorrow.
• Physicians should teach them how to prevent and avoid the evil and how to lead a normal healthy life.
• Parents should pay more care, attention and love to their sons and daughters.
• Reading of moral and religious books is also helpful to addicts.
• The police must act fearlessly to act against the people involved drug traffic.
